ESL Speaking Activity — Gerunds and Infinitives [exercise 2]
Pair up your students and give them a list of questions.
When they see a question with a verb in brackets, they should complete it using either the Gerund or Infinitive form of the verb.
After completing the question, they should have a short conversation using the Gerund or Infinitive form of the verbs. They can also add relevant details to elaborate on their answers.
For example, if the question is “Do you enjoy ________ time outdoors? (spend)”, the conversation could be:
Student A: Do you enjoy spending time outdoors?
Student B: Yes, I enjoy spending time outdoors especially when the weather is nice. How about you? Do you enjoy spending time outdoors?
Student A: Absolutely. I enjoy spending time outdoors. I like hiking, biking, and just exploring nature in general.
