ESL Speaking Activity — Would Like
In this ESL Speaking Activity, divide the students into pairs or small groups. Provide each group with a scenario where someone wants to do something and asks another person to join. Ask the students to read the scenario and prepare a short dialogue using “Would you like to…” to invite the other person to join in the activity. Encourage them to elaborate on their dialogues by including more questions. After they have prepared their dialogues, have each group perform their role-play in front of the class.
Scenario:
You want to try a new restaurant. Perhaps your sister will try it with you.
Possible dialogue:
Student A: Would you like to try this new restaurant with me?
Student B: Sure, I love trying something new. When would you like to go?
Student A: How about Saturday evening? Would that work for you?
Student B: Saturday evening sounds great! What time would you like to meet?
Student A: Would 7:00 pm be okay?
Student B: That works for me! Would you like me to make a reservation?
Student A: That would be fantastic, thank you!
