ESL Speaking Activity — Convince Me Why
In this ESL Speaking Activity, students are challenged to convince a partner by giving strong reasons to support a specific opinion or action. This helps students practice persuasive language, supporting arguments, and expressing opinions.
How It Works:
Students work in pairs, with one student as the “convincer” and the other as the “listener”. The listener can ask follow-up questions to challenge the reasons given.
Time Limit: Give each student 3-5 minutes to make their case.
Switch Roles: After each prompt, students switch roles, and a new card is drawn.
